Global Relevance of Iqbal’s Philosophy and Modernity Explores at UHE Conference

Lahore (Tuesday, November 7, 2023): The University of Home Economics is hosting a three-day international conference exploring the philosophy of peace and development as envisioned by the renowned poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal under the title of Iqbal’s Philosophy of Peace and Progress.
The conference commenced with a captivating Sufi Kalam performance during its opening session, beautifully conveying the message of peace.
The delegates from China, Iran, India, and Turkey are actively participating in this global conference. Dignitaries present at the inaugural session included Provincial Health Minister Dr. Javed Akram, Consul General of Iran Lahore, Jaffar Ronas, Vice Chancellor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, VC LCWU Dr. Shagufta Naz, and former Vice Chancellor of UHE Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen.
During his address at the opening session, Dr. Javed Akram emphasized the values of religious freedom, tolerance, and selflessness as being deeply ingrained in Allama Iqbal’s teachings.
He underlined that Islam has laid the foundation for human rights, and Allama Iqbal’s philosophy aligns harmoniously with the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Faleha Zahra Kazmi stressed the importance of peace among people for the overall progress of society, noting that Iqbal’s poetry serves as a vehicle to convey a message of purposefulness.
She also expressed the importance of introducing Iqbal’s thoughts to the younger generation through this conference.
Dr. Abu Musa Muhammad Arif Billah, Zhengzhou Normal University, China, highlighted how Iqbal’s philosophy became divided after the partition of Pakistan.
He emphasized the role of knowledge in human transformation and emphasized the significance of understanding Iqbal’s philosophy in the contemporary world to foster international peace.
Director of Iqbal Academy, Dr. Abdul Rauf, celebrated the rich history of tolerance and civilization in the East, emphasizing the continued importance of spirituality in our lives.
He highlighted how Allama Iqbal’s thoughts are rooted in modern principles, without being merely influenced by European ideas. Dr. Abdul Rauf also quoted Allama Iqbal, who expressed his awe and reverence for the mysteries of the Quran after reading every verse.
The conference organizers presented commemorative shields to the esteemed delegates who participated in this event, recognizing their valuable contributions.
A significant number of educators and students, including Dr. Nimat Yildirim, Ataturk University, Turkye, Dr. Uzma Qureshi, Ex-VC Women University Multan, Dr. Asif Munir, PHEC and senior journalist Wasif Nagi actively engaged in the conference.
