116 UHE students receive Honhaar Scholarships

Lahore (Wednesday, March 19, 2025): The students of undergraduate programs of University of Home Economics Lahore have become the recipients of Chief Minister Punjab Honhaar Scholarship Program.
A ceremony was held at the University of Home Economics (UHE), Lahore, to distribute scholarship cheques among 116 students. Rana Sikandar Hayat, Minister for Higher Education Punjab, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zaib-un-nisa Hussain distributed the cheques among students.
The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Special Secretary HED, Mr. Mansoor Ahmed Baloch, COO PHEC, Majid Mustafa Khan, Director HRD PHEC.
Maryam Nawaz, CM Punjab has made quality education accessible for talented students through the Honhaar Scholarship Program, said by Prof. Dr. Zaib-un-nisa Hussain, Vice-Chancellor of UHE. She highlighted that, along with academic education, UHE also provides professional training to students to equip them with industry-relevant skills.
She also shared that UHE has provided the 79 Taleem Mumkin and 10 Netsol scholarships to students.
Prof. Zaib also announced the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the university. She shared that the university would organize special events to showcase its history and contributions to women’s empowerment.
Mr. Rana Sikandar Hayat, Minister for Higher Education Department announced that the Punjab Chief Minister will cover four years of tuition fees for students.
Additionally, scholarships for 331 more students of UHE have been approved. He further revealed that the Punjab government will provide two electric buses for UHE students, with implementation plans underway.
The minister also announced that MasterChef competitions will be held at the university. He added that the Punjab government is preparing to distribute laptops to bright students, as they are the future of Pakistan.
At the conclusion of the event, Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat distributed scholarship checks among the students and congratulated them on their achievements. He also promised to provide the two electric buses for the students of UHE.
